From overtraining to the UCI eSports World Championships.

When Gina came to me, she was training 11–14 hours per week but struggling with persistent fatigue, recurring illness and a plateau in performance. Despite her commitment, she felt she was pushing hard without moving forward.

Using the Winning Edge Method, we identified a mismatch between her C–B-grade racing performance and the D-grade foundations supporting her development. Her training load, strength, sleep, recovery and lifestyle were not aligned to support the demands she was placing on herself.

Over the next four months, we rebuilt her approach across cycling, strength and conditioning, sleep and recovery, mental skills, and lifestyle. By reducing training volume, introducing targeted structure and aligning her programme with her individual needs and work commitments, we created a more sustainable approach to progression. Her power improved, recovery became more consistent, and she progressed from D-grade to C-grade cycling.

Six months after beginning coaching, Gina qualified for the UCI eSports World Championships. Just two months later, she was competing on the world stage — an outcome that had never been the original goal.

“Before working with Anna, I was creating my own training plans and relying on an AI coach. It worked for a while, but I eventually hit a plateau and found myself getting sick or overtraining. I felt like I was pushing hard without moving forward. Working with Anna has been completely different. She pays close attention to how my body responds and adjusts my training with care and intention. She’s kind, supportive, and has helped me become more compassionate with myself. I’ve learned that more and harder isn’t always better, and that real progress comes from training smarter, not just training more. With Anna’s support, I’m no longer stuck in cycles of overtraining and am building a solid foundation for healthy, sustainable progress towards my goal of competing in the Gravel World Championships in 2027.”
