WEC Framework™

The method that builds stronger, smarter cyclists

The Winning Edge Cycling Framework™ is a stage-based system that matches your training to where you actually are, so effort is absorbed, not wasted. It's the engine behind every program we write.

Problem

Putting in more effort no longer yields results

A change in training can create a quick improvement simply because it's different from what you've been doing. But when that change isn't part of a bigger development pathway, progress can run out just as quickly.

Great coaching is about understanding what matters most next — then building on it over time. Each priority becomes a foundation for the next, allowing performance to develop progressively rather than chasing a series of short-term improvements.

The best training isn't simply what gives you the best outcome today. It's what improves your performance today while also preparing you for better outcomes tomorrow.

The Winning Edge Method is designed around that principle: identify the next most important opportunity, develop it at the right time, and continue layering capability as you progress.

How It Works

From First Call to Lasting Progress

Four stages. No guesswork.

01 — Understand

Build a clear picture of where you are.
We look beyond a single measure of performance to understand your goals, history, experience, current capabilities, strengths, development needs and the factors influencing your ability to progress.

02 — Prioritise

Identify what matters most next.
We identify the areas with the greatest opportunity to improve your performance and development, then determine what needs attention now — and what can come later.

03 — Develop

Build the capabilities that move you forward.
We turn those priorities into action, applying the right training, support and development at the right dose to build performance without losing sight of what comes next.

04 — Evolve

Adapt as your performance develops.
As you develop, your needs change. We continually reassess, refine and progress your priorities — building on what you've achieved while preparing you for the next stage of your development.

Winning Edge performance model

The Winning Edge Performance Model

The Winning Edge Performance Modelid entifies an athlete's current stage of development across every performance domain. Rather than classifying riders solely by fitness or race category, it assesses the capabilities an athlete is currently able to consistently demonstrate. This provides the foundation for their Individual Development Plan and long-term progression through the Winning Edge Method.

Trainer

Smarter Training. Measurable Gains.

These results come from looking at the whole performance picture — how you train, fuel, recover, manage stress, and balance cycling with the demands of everyday life.

The Winning Edge Method brings these factors together to identify what will make the greatest difference, rather than simply adding more training or chasing short-term gains.

The result is a more targeted approach to development — one that improves performance now while building the capacity for what comes next.
